‘Remember When….’ Cafe in Hackenthorpe, 2024/25 Good Food Award winner – Blue Ribbon.

Here at ‘Remember When…’ we believe that everyone should feel welcome and comfortable to be themselves without judgement, regardless of age, gender, race, culture, background or disability.

We provide an ambiance, surroundings and activities to stimulate memories and conversation.

After gaining a distinction in her postgraduate study of the biology, sociology and psychology of dementia and psychosis, Ruth chose to leave her job to follow her dream. Ruth was inspired by her Nan, Eileen, to normalise living with, and caring for someone with dementia, by creating a space where no-one is ‘normal’ and everyone is ‘individual’.

We appreciate that sometimes you might be ready for a good fill up and sometimes you just might fancy something small. Small doesn’t have to mean boring though, so we serve all our food in large or small sizes.

Our Good Food Awards recognise the hard-working teams who strive for excellence within their field.
